Barbara Mathes Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the fifth annual Master Drawings New York. Modeled after the highly successful Master Drawings London, now in its 11th year, this event joins 24 galleries on New York's Upper East Side for the display of works on paper from the 15th through the 20th centuries, in mediums such as charcoal, watercolor, pastel, oil sketch, and more. The gallery will be presenting a broad selection of 20th century art, including watercolors by the early American modernists Oscar Bluemner and Charles Demuth; key examples of Abstract Expressionism from Arshile Gorky, Robert Motherwell, Adolph Gottlieb, and Lee Krasner; as well as works by eminent American and European figures such as Lee Bontecou, Richard Diebenkorn, Henri Matisse, and Gerhard Richter.
Master Drawings New York opens with a special preview on Friday, January 21st from 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock pm and continues through January 29th. The gallery's exhibition of works on paper will remain on view through February 26th.
